Sacramento, CA – Governor Gavin Newsom today delivered his first State of the State address as the 40th Governor of California, outlining his vision for a “California for All” that leverages the state’s many talents and assets, while tackling some of its most pressing challenges. Governor Newsom’s remarks focused on building a healthier California that supports all residents and provides a good quality of life for kids and families, regardless of their background – a priority that is directly in line with California State Parks Foundation’s work to increase access to parks for all Californians. 

Rachel Norton, California State Parks Foundation executive director, offered the following statement on today’s speech:  

“Like Governor Newsom, we are dedicated to building a ‘California for All’ and are steadfast in the belief that prioritizing ‘parks for all’ is integral to the vision for a healthier California where green spaces are accessible for kids and families from every socio-economic background in all of our state’s regions,” said Rachel Norton, Executive Director.  “By increasing access to our parks, we can ensure our state’s world-renowned open spaces are an asset in the push for a stronger state for all Californians. The connection between the crucial health, education and quality of life benefits that our parks can and do provide and the Governor’s plans for a better and healthier California are clear.  We look forward to working with Governor Newsom to realize this vision.”
