Q&A

Do programs that have volunteers working on trial maintenance eligible for funding?

Yes

Where do letters from support come from?

State Park District Superintendent or other state park staff.

Do current IRS website screen shots where expenses have already been incurred count for current documentation of being a 501(c)(3)?

Copies of letters can be obtained here, https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/eo-operational-requirements-obtaining-copies-of-exemption-determination-letter-from-irs

Could funding for Department of Parks and Recreation Archeologist be included?

Yes, if it is directly related to creating a meaningful and relevant experience for park visitors.

Can funding be applied to projects where expenses have already been incurred?

Yes.

How many grants do you anticipate funding?

We have $200,000 in available funds and expect to award 20-30 grants.

If we run concessions in a state park, do we just need a letter of support from the Department of Parks and Recreation?

Yes.

Do you have any match requirements?

No requirements, but please note the match in the budget you will submit.

Where can we obtain the grant application?

https://www.calparks.org/parkimprovements2022

We have a backlog of items that need to be addressed under maintenance, such as siding that has been damaged from flooding. Would this be considered or does it have to be directly related to visitor experience?

If the maintenance is the visitor center, for example, that would be considered for funding. Upgrading campsites, for example, would be considered for funding. Please reach out to discuss further.

Can we use funds to offer grants for children in need to attend an existing program?

Yes, as long as this program is in a state park.
