California’s State Parks offer a variety of educational programs for kids and adults totaling millions of hours of programming. Last year more than 3 million people participated in an educational program at a state park making the California State Parks System second only to the public school system in the number of hours of educational programs offered.

Education programs include natural and cultural history field trips and demonstrations; environmental studies programs; environmental living programs; and Junior Ranger and Junior Lifeguard programs that teach youngsters about stewardship of park resources, water safety and aquatic natural history.

The California State Parks Foundation assists in providing funding support for several of these environmental education programs:
