Foundation Facts:

Founded in 1969 by William Penn Mott, Jr., the Foundation is the only statewide voice for State Parks.

Since 1969, the Foundation has contributed more than $116 million in land, funding, and artifacts to State Parks and has protected the integrity of the entire Park System.

In its last fiscal year, the California State Parks Foundation raised $7.2 million and provided more than $4.8 million in programs and services to benefit parks while building a statewide constituency of parks supporters.

Programs and projects the California State Parks Foundation supports include Earth Day Restoration and Cleanup, restoring habitats and historic structures, Permanent Protection of Parklands Program, Coast Alive!, FamCamp®, Bay Youth for the Environment, Junior Rangers, Junior Lifeguards and Volunteer Enhancement.

The Foundation and its 90,000 members are committed to ensuring that state parks continue to provide adventure, renewal and inspiration, education, historical and cultural awareness, and recreation to all Californians.

Since 1996, membership in the Foundation has grown from 13,000 to 90,000 members. In addition, its funding has increased 170% and the foundation has opened a Southern California and Sacramento office.
