“Living History Day”, San Juan Bautista SHP, in the city of San Juan Bautista on Hwy 156

Costumed docents take you back in history while demonstrating blacksmithing, candle making, weaving and much more. Fun for the entire family. Park admission free. 831-623-4526. Starting July 5 (first Saturday of every month), noon-4pm.

Mineyard and Cottage Living History, Empire Mine SHP, 10791 E. Empire Street, Grass Valley

The historic Mineyard comes alive as volunteers portray workers of the past and enact a working day at the mine. Meet the office staff and other mine workers, see and hear the working machinery, smell the Blacksmith's burning coal and feel the coolness of the mineshaft. “Old Fashioned Independence Day!”, Wilder Ranch SP, 2 miles north of Santa Cruz on the coast side of Highway 1

Visit Wilder Ranch’s historic cultural preserve and step back 100 years as you participate in a 1906-style Independence Day celebration including a noon family parade, games, children’s crafts area, music, living history demonstrations, historic speeches and flag-raising. Glorious 4th of July Celebration, Columbia SHP, 4 miles N of Sonora via Hwy 49

Celebrate an old-time 4th of July with flag raising, parades, music, watermelon and pie eating contests, dancing in the streets, greased pole contest and much, much more! Fourth of July Celebration of 1856, Fort Tejon SHP, 37 miles South of Bakersfield on I-5

Some of the living history demonstrations depicted at this western outpost of the U.S. Army are weapons demonstrations, open hearth cooking and 1850’s Army barracks life. 75th Anniversary, Pfeiffer Big Sur SP, 26 miles South of Carmel on Hwy 1

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park will celebrate it’s 75th anniversary as a state park! “County Fair” type activites will be held in the Day Use parking lot, including community booths, old fashioned children’s games, education displays, and guided nature walks. Campers, the local community, and anyone interested in Pfeiffer Big Sur are invited to share in the celebration for one of the most beloved and popular state parks in California. Generations of campers have enjoyed walking through the majestic redwoods, swimming in the Big Sur River, and camping under the stars. There will be free day use parking for this event. “Full Moon Madness”, Henry Cowell Redwoods SP, off Hwy 9 in Felton

Columbia’s History Mysteries, Columbia SHP, 4 miles N of Sonora via Hwy 49

Families are invited to solve an actual crime that occurred in Columbia in the 1850's. Families search for clues, interview witnesses "from the 1850's" & solve the mystery. This fun filled morning ends with a trial at the Justice Court. Reservations are required: 209-588-9128. $15 per family. July 19 & 26

3rd Annual OLD GROVE FESTIVAL, Armstrong Redwoods SR, Guerneville

Enjoy La Catrina Quartet at the Forest Theatre in the heart of Armstrong Redwoods SR. The opening act is a showcase of local talent: Russian River Variety Show. Gates open at 5:00pm with the opening act at 5:45pm. The main act will begin at 7:00pm. USS Potomac Adventure, Angel Island SP, San Francisco Bay

Begin your adventure with a leisurely cruise to Angel Island SP onboard FDR’s Presidential Yacht, USS Potomac. Enjoy a docent led tram tour of Fort McDowell, one of the oldest military posts in the nation, and other significant historical Angel Island sites. “Tales of the Basin”, Big Basin Redwoods SP, 9 miles outside of Boulder Creek on Hwy 236

The oral tradition comes to life with the ancient redwood forest as a backdrop. Events of this weekend include Big Basin Nature Tails for children of all ages, guided walks that spin a yarn along the trail, and a Storyteller Showcase in the historic Campfire Center. Fort Ross Heritage Day, Fort Ross SHP, 19005 Coast Hwy, 10 miles N of Jenner

On Cultural Heritage Day you can celebrate the cultural diversity, arts, crafts and traditional activities of the inhabitants of Fort Ross. Summer Concerts in the Plaza, San Diego Old Town State Historic Park
